Greetings fellow SNPhA members. Welcome to another year. You have had a very outstanding pass year in fostering you mission of planning, organizing, coordinating and executing your programs focused on improving the health and educational environment of the underserved minority communities. All of this has provided opportunities for professional growth.  You have given much attention to your initiatives in areas like chronic kidney disease, diabetes, HIV, stroke and hypertension. You have successfully promoted and had the national organization to accept your resolutions on issues affecting the profession and continued your representation through your appointments and elections to national office. I applaud the fact that the national president is a member of our chapter. This maintains our place as one of the leading chapters in the country. It is said that “to whom is given, much is expected”. It is expected that we continue our efforts to be the best at what we do. So as we open our arms and welcome new members to our fold, our job is to continue our maximum efforts to maintain a high degree of excellence. This is our challenge for the new year! Good luck to us all!

President: Sara Mirjamali
“Hello everyone! My name is Sara and I will be serving as this year’s SNPhA President. I earned my Bachelor’s in Biology from the University of Houston and worked full time for a year at an independent pharmacy before starting pharmacy school. I am extremely excited for everything we’ve planned for this year and the opportunities our members will have to continue serving the underserved populations throughout Houston. There are two things that I love most about this organization. First, how it’s all about giving back. Many people don’t realize how many individuals there are in our city that don’t have access to affordable healthcare; we as pharmacy students have the chance to impact their lives with the skills we acquire in school. Second, the leadership and professional skills you can gain from the organization are infinite. From the many leadership positions available and the opportunities to coordinate events in the community, to the chance of becoming a mentor for future students to come, SNPhA breeds leaders amongst our college. I can’t wait to see how our chapter will continue to grow this 2016-2017 school year!”

Vice President: Johnny Hoang
“Hi everyone! My name is Johnny and I am very excited to be your vice president for this year! I am from Austin and some things I love to do are playing the piano, cooking, and trying new restaurants. SNPhA is all about its mission, serving the underserved, and I am proud to be part of the team to carry this out. Through my involvement last year, I was able to truly grasp the impact that we as students can have on our communities. The various initiatives we have are wonderful and they have given me many opportunities to reach out. The reason I love SNPhA so much is because of these initiatives and it has allowed me to grow and advance our profession of pharmacy.”

Secretary: Bao Nguyen
Hi, my name is Bao Nguyen and I am a P2 student here at UHCOP. I am currently the SNPhA secretary for the 2016-2017 school year. I believe that communication is extremely important among the officers and the members. It is crucial for the officers to convey information about the organization to the members on a daily basis so that the members can be informed of all the events that are happening. This way, the members can become more involved and active in SNPhA. This is why I chose to become SNPhA secretary to serve as a bridge of communication among the officers and the members. One of my biggest responsibilities is to forward emails to members on a weekly basis so that they can be informed of and participate in SNPhA events and activities. The more the members participate, the stronger SNPhA becomes. Ultimately, I am determined to make SNPhA more successful in the future to leave behind a legacy for others to follow.”

Treasurer: Serenity Gracia
“Hey you guys! My name is Serenity Gracia and I am the treasurer this year! A little bit about myself…I’m from Houston and I went to UT for undergrad (Hook ‘Em!). When I’m not studying, I love to bake, craft and spend time with my family. One of my greatest passions is my compassion for others and SNPhA is one of the ways I am able to serve my community. I am so excited to serve as treasurer for this amazing organization and I look forward to this year!”

Historian: Harshil Patel
Hello everyone, my name is Harshil Patel and I will be serving as your SNPhA historian. I am from Sugar Land and I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor in Biochemistry. Some of my hobbies include working out, trying new food, and discovering new music. I am passionate about SNPhA because it has taught me so much about the profession as well as shown me the impact we as pharmacy students can make in our community.
